A community breakfast club has re-launched in Charmouth serving the local community with an array of tasty treats.
Jan Gale, Ann Poulsen and Freda Smallwood
Residents of Magna's sheltered housing scheme at Hollands House on Bridge Road will be serving a choice of a full English breakfast, sweet Canadian waffles and lighter cooked snacks every Thursday morning 9.30am to 12.30pm until April.
The Magna residents and volunteers want to create a friendly buzz and encourage all members of the community to enjoy the warm and inviting facilities, whether it's a mum returning from the school run, local residents or a local passer-by. The breakfast club is not there to make a profit and they reinvest all revenue back into the scheme.
Jan Gale, one of the club's organisers, said, 'Our aim is to provide a warm and comfortable venue for the older people, their friends and local community to drop in during the cold winter months to enjoy the company and have a warm meal if they wish. The menu is reasonably priced and freshly prepared using locally sourced food.'
The volunteers will also be on hand to give information about the local community group, Charmouth Village People, and the activities they run including the Memorable Memoirs club and village lunch.
