Dorchester Police hunt Stolen Bear Hat Stand

Police in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about a burglary in a village near Dorchester to come forward.

The unique hatstand is worth around £6000.
Between 12.50pm on Tuesday 12th February and 1pm on Thursday 14th February 2013, a property in Winterbourne Steepleton was broken in to. During the burglary, a carved Black Forest wooden coat and umbrella stand with bears was stolen.
Today police released photo of the item.
Police Constable Dave Williams, of Dorchester police, said: "This item, which has been in the same family for many years, is unique and valued at approximately £6000.
"Apart from the monetary worth of the artefact it has a big sentimental value to the family and therefore the incident has caused a great deal of upset."
Police would like to speak to anyone who recalls seeing any suspicious activity in the area at the time and encourage anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the stolen item to call Dorset Police.
