Nona Glasper celebrated her 100th birthday with family and close friends at Rod Hill Close, Puddletown on Saturday 10th August. Celebrations took place in the communal room of the sheltered scheme, where a surprise cream tea party was organised for Nona.
Nona was born in Darlington with her 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Her working life involved working on farms and housekeeping in the Durham area before marrying her husband Arthur, a local gamekeeper when she was 36. The nature of Arthur's work saw the couple move all over the country before settling in Puddletown, Dorset.
Nona has one daughter Geraldine and three grandchildren Beth, Holly and Luke who escorted her to the surprise birthday party.
Chris McKenna, Magna sheltered housing officer at the scheme helped organise the party and presented Nona with a beautiful bouquet of flowers on behalf of the affordable housing provider.
Nona commented, 'It was such a surprise to have my family and friends who I haven't seen in years. I'd like to thank Chris for her efforts I was absolutely thunderstruck.'
