Police appeal for witnesses to Dorchester hit and run

Police in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses and information after a 14-year-old girl was hit by a car which drove off without leaving details.

A vehicle, believed to be a VW Golf, hit the girl on Monday 19th November at the junction of Cambridge Road and Maud Road, between 4.40pm and 4.50pm.

The victim, from Puddletown, sustained bruising and a swollen ankle.

Police Constable Jacqui Allen, of Dorchester police, said: "The driver of the car stopped and asked the girl if she was ok, but then drove off.

"This happened at a busy time of day and I am keen to speak to any witnesses to determine exactly what happened.I would also urge the driver to come forward and speak with the police. All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence."

The driver is described as a white man in his 40s, balding and was wearing shorts.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 19:349.
