Revamp your community with a grant

Do you have a passion for improving your local landscape? Are you part of a group who are seeking funding for a local project?
The Conservation and Community Planning Grant is being offered by West Dorset District Council. The Community Planning Grant is available for up to 50 percent of the cost of a project. For eligible groups the maximum award is £3000 and businesses and individuals £1000.
West Dorset District Council are accepting applications until 31 October 2011.
Examples of what could be awarded funding are:
- Community/neighbourhood planning: eg Projects that develop a Parish or neighbourhood plan.
- Landscape character projects: eg Heathland restoration works, tree planting, hedgelaying.
- Historic character projects: eg Conservation of railings, gates, walls, traditional paving, painted sign writing.
West Dorset District Council Leader Robert Gould said: "We are very lucky to live in an area such as West Dorset. This grant is a great opportunity to look after and preserve the beautiful surroundings we live in."
