Winter is finally here, are you ready Dorchester?

The big freeze has finally come, and while we have only had a token scattering of snow yesterday the temperatures continue to remain very low.  The Met Office warn of widespread ice for the next few days, so before you head out take a moment to think about your vehicle.  

Is your vehicle ready?

  • Find your ice scraper and have it handy
  • Check you have antifreeze in your radiator
  • Keep your windscreen clean
  • If you battery is getting unreliable replace it asap
  • Keep your lights clean to maximise visibility
  • Keep a closer eye on your tyre pressures during the colder months
  • Make sure your mobile phone is topped up

In case of emergency - especially on a long journey in severe weather stock your car up with:

  • A shovel
  • First aid kit
  • Tow rope
  • Jumpers, hats and gloves
  • Thermos of hot drink
  • Items of packaged food
  • Jump leads
  • Blankets or old sleeping bags
  • A torch
  • Road atlas
