Geoff is organising two Art Walks to celebrate the 170th anniversary of Thomas Hardy’s birthday on Wednesday 2nd June, with the support of Dorset’s Countryside Ranger Service. Both will take place in Thorncombe Woods, close to Hardy’s childhood home at Higher Bockhampton, and both will focus on interpreting Hardy’s relationship with nature through a series of creative activities. Art Walk Two will run from 10am till 1pm and Art Walk Three will start at 7pm and continue through to 10pm. The cost of the walk will be £10 with 10% donated to the Dorset Ranger Services work with schools. Contact Geoff on 07925175872 or gajones755@hotmail.com to book a place or for more details.
Cinnabar eco creative is happy to organise Art Walks for groups with particular interests or needs, including school groups both in rural and urban settings.
Thomas Hardy quote demonstrating how Hardy’s writing is ‘infused with the imagery of nature.’
‘The season developed and matured. Another year’s instalment of flowers, leaves, nightingales, thrushes, finches, and such ephemeral creatures, took up their positions where only a year ago others had stood in their place when these were nothing more than germs and inorganic particles. Rays from the sunrise drew forth the buds and stretched them into long stalks, lifted up sap in noiseless streams, opened petals, and sucked out scents in invisible jets and breathings.’
