Good places to meet in Dorchester at lunchtimes

Dorchester has a new spring it is step now that the warmer weather has arrived.

Soon, we’ll all be out in the Borough Gardens, sitting in Maumbury Rings or down by the river enjoying lunchtimes with friends, sharing sandwiches on a park bench and soaking up the glorious weather we hope to see in the months to come.

We’re not quite there yet, so for now we can enjoy lunchtimes in the plethora of cafes and eating places in Dorchester. Newly popped-up or well-established, these are great places to eat, have a cup of coffee and a rest from shopping or a break from the nine to five.

Café Jago’s

You’ll be made to feel very welcome here, whether you’re just popping in for a quick cup of tea or coffee, a snack or a full meal. Café Jagos also has a licensed bar, so you can enjoy wine, beer or spirits with your meal.

The Octagon, Poundbury

In the heart of Prince Charles’s village, The Octagon has been a meeting place for the past decade. It cooks and serves light meals using fresh ingredients from a range of local suppliers.

The Engine Room, Poundbury

This a lovely light and airy place for lunches and evening meals. A great place to meet for a coffee, too, especially after a wander around the garden centre next door.

The Mousetrap

Family run, right in the middle of Dorchester, with some lovely home cooked food. A great place to meet and rest your weary bones after a shopping expedition.

Café Paninis

One of Dorchester’s newest venues and a great place for lunch. Lots to choose from on the menu, a great airy place and  a stone’s throw from the market and the soon-to-be hotspot of Brewery Square.
