Well, despite fears of rain and speculation of whether people would turn up, more than 4,000 enjoyed the Royal Wedding at Maumbury Rings, Dorchester.

It was a great event, with lots of people dressed up, lots of flags and plenty of children.

So hats off to Molly Rennie, chairman of Dorchester Town Council's community activities panel, for leading the group of organisers.

They pulled it off, in style. Apparently, it was one of the top four royal wedding events according to one national newspaper (did that include the real thing??)

Across the area, there were tea parties and street parties, including Cerne Abbas, at which 90s heart throb Chesney Hawkes (the one and only!) was among the guests.
