youth festival were pleased to learn last week that the festival has been
awarded a grant through the Arts Council.
The grant will allow Anonymous festival, held in Maumbury Rings on
Saturday 28th August, to add even more activities and performers to
a day already packed with local musicians.
The festival will now also have Boredbrands Digital Funfair, which
combines new media, dance music, film and things found lying around in the street
to create an interactive experience. There will be a chance for young people to
try out free running with Train Hard.
Another new feature of the festival will be PIG from the Whalley
Range All Stars, which features a 30 foot long sleeping sow in a pen where the
public get a chance to peek at a show that takes place inside her belly (see picture).
Added to the main stage line up is an Acoustic Cafe with Jack
Harrison and Joe Trudgeon, Lil Dreads, Beth Hyde, Owen & Capaldi and Ali
Rich, while a host of DJs take to the decks in the festival’s own silent disco.
On the main stage there will be acts such as the Kathy Davies
School of Dance, the Dorchester Ballet and Dance Club, Dorchester Youth Theatre
and Distinction with Cheerleading and Street Dance.
Emma Scott, Community Development Officer for West Dorset District
Council said: “This grant is great news. Anonymous was already looking to build
on the success of last year, but we can know add so much more to the day, it
really will have something for everyone.
“We not only have some brilliant local bands, but we now have some
amazing activities for people to take part in and performers to be inspired
by.”
Anonymous 2010 will be held in Maumbury Rings on 28th August
from 12.00 p.m. –10.00 p.m.

Festivals and carnivals are great - it's a real opportunity for the local community to pull together and let their hair down.
