I have done you all a favour and found out which pubs in Dorchester are showing
the world cup this year. Isn't that nice?
If you don’t know already, England's first three matches are
scheduled for:
19:30 on Saturday 12th June vs the USA
19:30 on Friday 18th June vs Algeria
15:00 on Wednesday 23rd vs Slovenia
I’m sure most of you football fans will already have a
favourite pub for watching sports, but just in case you fancy a change or are
undecided about where to go, the following is a list of all the pubs I spoke to
who are showing the matches with details of how many screens they have:
Bar Rouge – one projector screen on the raised area at the
back of the pub, plus two other televisions
The Bakers Arms – one big projector screen
The George – four screens in total
The Junction – one ‘giant’ screen plus one widescreen, and
looking to get a third before the games begin
Wetherspoons – two screens (they will be playing the sound!)
The Station – three screens in total
The Sun Inn – two screens, will only be playing matches on
digital and not those on sky
The Sydney Arms – one big screen, two other televisions (drinks
promotion includes Fosters, Carlsberg, Thatchers and Best Bitter all at half
price)
The Borough Arms (Goldies) – one big screen in the beer
garden, two other televisions inside
The Victoria –one screen
The Ship – two screens in total
Colliton Club (members only) – one big screen in the large
room and one television in the games area
Having seen the list of pubs, where will you be watching the
world cup? Will you be loyal and go to your local, switch pubs for each game,
or just stay at home? Where does everyone usually go? Please let me know if I have left anything out!

The George has also got food promotions on for the match's, One screen is a wide screen projector , one in the beer garden and surround sound in the bar and garden. Also for the first England match make sure you get there in plenty of time to get your free food token at half time
