  So it is clear now that were aren't in any danger of being in drought here in Dorset, for a while at least. But the drought warnings (and the newly installed water meter in my house) has got me thinking about collecting rainwater. I grow my own fruit and vegetables, have a lots of flower borders and a duck who likes his pond refreshed regularly so I need a lot of water!  I am passionate about recycling and thinking around my water...

  Athelhampton House is a local treasure and is only a few minutes from Dorchester town centre. It was built in 1485 and is a great example of fine Tudor architecture. Decadent room after room are open to the public.  The gardens (my personal favourite) were built around 1895 by Alfred Cart de Lafontaine.  The pyramid shaped yew trees in The Great Court are worth a visit alone.
