The Best of Dorset Festival

Many people approve of hunting. Many people don't. And, therefore, hunting is a contentious issue. Officially banned, fox hunting still continues, although hunts claim that any foxes that are killed by hounds are killed by accident.
Cut to a field in Milborne St Andrew just a few weeks ago. The Best of Dorset festival, on its website, billed itself as raising money for charity, and certainly intends to do so next year. That is clear from its website.
But was there another charity benefiting from the Festival and if so, why was this support not more openly publicized ?
It seems strange that both the website of the South Dorset Hunt, and the website of the Countryside Allowance, both refer to the event as being - at least in part - organised by the Hunt. Indeed, the Hunt's website states "Support the Hunt and party all weekend". So did the Hunt benefit from the festival? Why are they not listed under the supported charities, or on the sponsor's page? If you are familiar with the Hunt, you may spot the logo at the bottom right of the Sponsorship page, but this logo is hardly legible and no explanation is given as to its meaning.
Fox hunting is a matter for individual conscience. And the organisers of the Best of Dorset Festival should respect that and be clear about who is organising the Festival and who is benefiting from it. If, indeed, the Hunt benefited from the profits of the event, this should be very clearly stated, because to infer that an organisation such as this is a charitable cause is misleading in the extreme.

Let's just keep to the music shall we. Its supposed to unite not divide. I don't see what is wrong with somebody asking questions as JamesYoung has and i'm sorry but the abuse from Howling should be reported. If the Hunt are involved and i looked at their website and their website suggests that they are despite Howlings comments, then i think people have the right to know. I can understand why JamesYoung would think they were. I wonder what the hunt would have got if the festival had made money.
I don't know JamesYoung or Howling but it seems a lot of people are quick to claim to be helping the community when in fact they are just helping themselves. And its laughable for Howling to then criticise the website owners for not considering people's feelings when he is guilty of the comments.
I think this is an excellent site and it is good to have debate like this where everybody can put their side forward. I've just registered and i will come here again. Keep up the good work!

ReportWell i would have wanted 2 know and i was there.
I know James and can tell you that he isnt somebody like you say he drives a minibus for two local charities and would do anything for anyone. If he has got a fault its that his principals get in the way of stuff and he gets involved in too much stuff and then gets stressed out about it, but if you new him you would not be so insulting cus he is a nice guy well maybe a bit too nice. But this sight is about reporting and that is what he done. I hate fox hunting and i know you said that they have nothing to do with the festival but at least now i know. it won't stop me going next year cus i think it was gr8 but i hope you will tell the hunt you dont want them involved next time.

ReportI also think that the people who run this site, apart from Bethany Ansell who has worked really hard to make this work, are short sighted and have no idea about the needs and feelings for local people in Dorchester and wish they would either listen to local feeling and think again about their decision making policy

ReportNo not people, just James Young who has yet to do anything for Dorchester apart from whinge and moan about others trying to do something for the community. The Best of Dorset Festival 2010 has nothing to do with Hunting, Hunters, Foxes, Dogs or Politics.
The Best of Dorset Festival 2010 will be about people having a great time, listening to great music and having a really good time, and we may even be able to make some money for charity
NOTHING TO DO WITH HUNTING
God this is getting so boring !
