Dorchester will be the first town in Dorset to host ‘Green Drinks’, which is an informal social event offering those interested in environmental issues to meet for drinks and a chat. ‘Green Drinks’ began in London in 1989 and now regularly features in hundreds of towns and cities internationally.
Transition Town Dorchester says that ‘Green Drinks is a great way to make new contacts, catch up with friends or just hang out with people who share your values. You don't have to be an environmental activist to come along - everyone is welcome whatever their commitment to green issues’.
Transition Town Dorchester is officially registered with Green Drinks International , an organic, self-organising network of people with environmental concerns. The concept is that those who turn up to the events simply ask ‘are you green?’ to figure out who is there for ‘Green Drinks’.
It is apparently usual to have speakers for 20-30 minutes or so to help stimulate discussion, although most of the evening is mainly freeform. If you would like to speak or do a short presentation then email info@transitiontowndorchester.org in advance.
