I took my partner and mum out for Sunday lunch at the Gaggle of Geese at the weekend and we had such a pleasant meal. The pub is more like someone's front room than a restaurant bar, with loads of beckoning comfy sofas to sink into. The food has the Direct from Dorset stamp on it which means it's sourced from local foods - except my cep mushroom and truffle risotto had real Italian truffle shavings on it. I only know that cos the chap came out with a knarled black truffle the size of his hand and sprinkled it liberally on my plate. (He knows people in Tuscany and can get them cheap, apparently) We all really enjoyed our food - mum had the goats cheese and beetroot to start, then lamb roast, and my partner had pork ribs then fish and chips. All divine. I would recommend this place to anyone - but you should book in advance...very reasonable £53 for 3 people inc drinks...
