The marquee at Dorchester Football Club is being taken down after residents at Castle Park complained about noise.

The marquee - popular for all sorts of events
Planning permission has expired and the club says it won’t be reapplying.
It’s a blow for the club because it was an important source of income. It’s also a blow for the town because the marquee was widely used for various functions and charity events.
But club chairman Shaun Hearn told his local paper it was a ‘battle we weren’t going to win’.
Temporary planning permission for the marquee was granted by West Dorset District Council last summer, and was extended by three months in August.
But this was subject to planning conditions which included no live music, a limitation on the volume of amplified music and no use of the marquee after midnight.
The club still hopes to create a permanent structure to host events in the future but it depends on funding.
* Are you sorry to see the marquee taken down? Or do you live nearby and glad to see the back of it?

Comments
When planning permission was sought people had the opportunity to file their protest then. They didn't and it was given planning permission. It should have staid.
